After many years exploring the island we now feel that we have a few favourite swimming spots we’d like to share . Late in summer the river can be lovely and warm , for years locals have spent their holidays exploring the cool, clear mountain rivers. A natural progression for us, we set up our wild swimming courses after so many days in the mountains with friends that ended in diving into rivers, lochs or sea. Marching down through the heather after a sun baked day on the hill, we’d be looking for trees by the edge of the river - a signal for deeper water, a perfect place to swim and cool off. You can’t beat the feeling of swimming in a secluded pool, emerging from the water feeling rejuvenated.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
We meet at the Sligachan Hotel, 9am for morning sessions and 1pm for afternoon sessions and the activity lasts for about 4 hours in total. You need to bring a towel, swimwear and a sense of adventure! Fully qualified and fully insured, our guides have experienced the gorges at all times of year and all water levels. Journeys are usually downhill, so we start the session by walking up to the get-in point before following the water back to the start. It's up to you how you get there. If jumping is your thing, then you can jump. Or you can swim or walk if you prefer. The choice is yours.
